Available memory less than 15mb vampire

I don't want to play the original unpatched game enough to try it. I've heard some people talk about playing in compatability mode, but I haven't tried it myself. although for some reason when I try to play the vanilla version, I get a message saying: 'Available memory less than 15MB!!! -1' I have Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit, and I haven't had any problems with the unofficial patch, or the modded games. I've been meaning to upgrade from windows xp to 7. If that's true, is there a solution to making it work properly?

I've been reading from time to time that bloodlines has a problem working in windows 7 64-bit (or not at all). Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines > Bloodlines Tech Support The case between bloodlines and windows 7 64-bit
